Weekly Featured Cheese

Le Crottin à ma manière, pasteurised goats cheese, has a whitish beige wrinkled rind and a dense and chalky white paste. It features caprine aromas of fresh milk and nut, and lactic flavours with a touch of hazelnut. Introduced in 2012, it is inspired from Crottin-style cheeses from the French tradition. L’Atelier was founded in 2010, when seasoned cheesemaker Simon Hamel decided to start making his own cheeses. In the business now for more than 10 years, Mr. Hamel has studied and made cheese in France as well as in several Québec cheese dairies. $9.95 each

Pied De Vent. Le Pied-De-Vent is a raw cow-milk cheese from the Magdalen Islands region, in Quebec, Canada. This soft cheese is produced by La Fromagerie du Pied-de-Vent. Pied-de-Vent is made with milk from Canadienne cattle. Its name comes from a French-Canadian expression meaning “the sun’s rays piercing through the clouds”. Medium-strong. $7.42 per 100g

A Sheep, farm cheese, Brebichon has a whitish beige wrinkled rind and a cream-coloured creamy interior that is chalky in the centre. It boasts aromas of fresh milk and a hint of apple. BREBIOLE

Brebiole has a beautiful, cream-coloured bloomy rind. Its slightly chalky paste features fresh milk aromas and buttery cream flavours with a delicate zesty note. Brebiole means small ewe in old French. Introduced in 2015, it is currently the only bloomy rind ewe milk log on the market.  St-Joseph-du-Lac QC. $9.95 each
